Furnivall at Henley

Furnivall Women’s 8 had a successful and enjoyable campaign at Henley Women’s Regatta the weekend of 2 July 2021.

The event started early for our ladies on Friday morning with the qualifying races for the Aspirational Club 8+ category. They put in a strong performance to achieve qualification, thereby gaining a place in a first round race against Thames RC’s top crew later that day.

Furnivall got off to a very strong start against Thames, leading to some exciting side-by-side racing as the crews pulled away from Temple Island. However, Thames were the stronger crew and went on to win the race. Indeed, they only got knocked out by the overall winners, from Tideway Scullers’ School.

Well done to our ladies and coach Michael Tchbouroff for a great achievement in our 125th year. We hope to build on this result and have some strong entries for HWR 2022!
